Principals Report
What a magnificent night we had last Wednesday as our students displayed their many talents at our school production. Their confidence and creative flair on stage was a remarkable sight. This was a great culmination of the hard work from all staff and many other members of our school community. Special mention to Rhiannon McFarlane (director/choreographer), Sarah Manelski and Bill Van Diemen (set design), and Di O’Hehir for completing all our compliance requirements and her constant communication to us all.
This Friday is Grandparents Day, one of the most enjoyable extra-curricular events on the St John’s calendar. Our students have been practising their marching and are looking forward to seeing their Grandparents, families and special friends join us for this special occasion. Please see below for the schedule of events.
Shortly we will begin the process of planning our class lists for the 2025 school year. I therefore ask that you inform the school ASAP if you are not intending on returning to St John’s next year.
When deciding our individual class structures, a number of factors are considered, which include:
- Student’s social, emotional, academic and physical development
- Student’s cognitive development
- Student relationships
- Family dynamics, eg sibling placement
- Teacher knowledge, skill and expertise
- Enrolment numbers at the various levels
If your child has a particular need or there is important information that we should be aware of when considering class placement for the 2025 school year, we ask that parents put this information in writing and submit it via email to principal@stjohnskwr.catholic.edu.au by Tuesday 12th November.
It is important that requests be submitted each year as individual circumstances change. We will not be referring to requests made from previous years and we do not accommodate requests for particular teachers.
Please note all requests will be considered on merit but there are no guarantees. Any requests received after the above date will not be taken into consideration and once grades have been set there will be no changes.
Class Structures for 2025:
Two x Foundation Grades
Two x 1/2 Grades
Two x 3/4 Grades
One x 4/5 Grade
Two x 5/6 Grades
Students will find out who their 2025 teacher is on Monday 9th December, during our ‘Meet the Teacher’ session.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal
This term, our school is proud to support the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. We invite all families to donate Christmas items like bonbons, Christmas cakes, chocolates, and other Christmas treats to help bring joy to families in need. The items we collect will be given to the St Vincent De Paul Society to be made into hampers and given to local families.
At St John’s we do this to live out the Catholic Social Teachings, Solidarity—standing together to support one another—and Dignity of the Human Person—making sure that every person feels valued, loved, and remembered during this special season.
Each class will be given a basket for donations. We will collect donations up until the end of November.
Thank you for your support.
Alycia Matthews, Religious Education Leader
