Principals Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the beginning of another term. I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and enjoyable Easter. We have a busy term ahead of us, and although only 9 weeks long, it is packed full of learning and events within the school and in the wider community. With this in mind, please be aware of the calendar in PAM (Parent Access Module) and action any permissions required in a timely manner.
ANZAC Day: On Tuesday, our school captains Jai & Charlea, laid a wreath on behalf of our school community to commemorate the fallen soldiers. It was also wonderful to see so many of our students and their families taking part in the dawn service.
Today our senior students lead the school in an ANZAC reflection liturgy.
Staffing: We are still in the process of advertising for the teaching vacancies created by Mrs Dennis’ departure. In the interim, Mrs Bianca Deane will be teaching Grade 3/4D on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Louise Hennessy will replace Mrs Deane in the Grade 3/4M classroom on Mondays. Physical Education lessons will be covered by a combination of teachers until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Mrs Rebecca Taylor is currently on long service leave. For the next month, Mrs Leonie Hester will be teaching Art and Mrs Kathryn Burns will teach STEM.
Mrs Jacki Taylor commences long service leave next week, during which time, Mrs Bernadette Hance will teach 1/2H fulltime.
It is great to welcome Bill Van Diemen back from sick leave, Bill will commence the term working on Wednesdays.
I thank all staff for their support and flexibility during this time.
Friends of St John’s Meeting: Thursday 4th May, 9:30am in the staff room, please come along if you can.
House Cross Country: Friday 5th May: Students come to school in their SPORT UNIFORM and may wear their House Colours in conjunction with this (ie House colour T-shirt, socks, hair ties etc). Due to the fact that we run different age groups at intervals throughout the day and don’t have set race times, this event is a student only event. (No Spectators)
Inform and Empower: During May, the students will take part in their second live stream incursion on digital safety and wellbeing. These sessions will inform and empower students to become more aware, clever, kind and brave online citizens. Information sheets will be sent home after the incursions.
Caritas: Project Compassion: Thank you to our school community for your support of Project Compassion again this year, as a school we have raised approximately $880.00.
Term 2 Uniform: A reminder that Winter Uniform is to be worn by all students in Terms 2 & 3.
Mother’s Day Stall: Our Mothers Day stall will be held on Wednesday 10th May, please see further information below.
Mother’s Day Breakfast: Our annual Mothers Day Breakfast will be held on Friday 12 May, 7 - 8:30am. Students are invited to bring their mothers (or a special person if mum is unable to attend) and enjoy breakfast cooked by the staff.
Our Mothers Day Liturgy will be held on Friday 12 May at 9:15am in the Church, families are invited to attend.
